SWISS POST CREATES A BLOCKCHAIN-BASED PLATFORM FOR THE DIGITALIZATION OF BUSINESS

Swiss post office in partnership with the state-owned company Swisscom is developing a blockchain platform for digitizing business processes. The launch of the first applications on the platform is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019, and their users will be corporate clients and government agencies.

As a base for it will be used Hyperledger Fabric framework to create a “simple, secure and sustainable” private blockchain infrastructure for the development of specialized applications.

The level of security of the platform will meet banking standards, and all data will be stored in Switzerland, specified in a joint statement of the two organizations.

It is noted that the Hyperledger solution will significantly reduce the energy consumption of the platform, compared to public networks.

The pilot launch of the first applications on the platform is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019, their users will be corporate clients and government agencies wishing to digitize business processes in a “safe and proven” manner.

Swiss post already uses blockchain technology. In May, Unit mail called PostFinance started a pilot project on smart electricity through the blockchain. In turn, Swisscom, together with its subsidiary Daura AG, is working on a blockchain system for the issue, acquisition and sale of companies’ shares.

Earlier, the Swiss railway operator announced the end of testing the blockchain platform for the identification of workers engaged in construction work on railway facilities. Through the appropriate mobile application it is also carried out admission of workers to the construction site.

In early October, the Swiss financial regulator FINMA issued the first license to manage crypto assets to the Crypto Fund.
