Sony Is Building A System Of Digital Rights Management On The Blockchain

Japanese electronics giant Sony has developed a new digital rights management system based on blockchain.

According to the firm’s press release on Monday, the system will help manage information related to digital content copyright by referring to educational content as the primary use case.

Using the platform, participants will be able to share and verify information such as the date and time of creation, as well as the author’s data. It will also automatically check the rights of generating part of the written work.

Digital content such as e-books, Music, Videos, virtual reality content and more are said to be supported by the new system, which is based on a similar system developed by the conglomerate earlier. Sony says it is currently considering commercializing the system as a service.
