Chinese Police Have Detained Three Suspects After The Theft Of Cryptocurrency In The Amount Of  $ 87 Million

On Sunday, state media reported that the Chinese police arrested three suspects who allegedly stole assets worth 600 million yuan ($ 87 million) by hacking.

Police in the northern city of Xi’an started an investigation in March, when a victim named Zhang complained that hackers took control of his computer to steal a cryptocurrency in the amount of 100 million yuan (15 million dollars), reports The Shaanxi Daily.

The catch of 100 million yuan consisted of the popular currencies Bitcoin and Ethereum, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

After three months of investigation, they managed to reach the first suspect named Zhou, who lived in the Central province of Hunan.

Then within two months, law enforcement had identified his accomplices, who are highly skilled hackers. In total, three suspects are believed to have stolen 600 million yuan by hacking computers of individuals and companies.

The police investigation is still ongoing, and last week officers in the three provinces interacted to take the suspects into custody.

Recall, in April in China, was discovered a cryptocurrency pyramid, the founders of which managed to appropriate customer funds in the amount of $ 13 million.
