A blocklchain platform called Medicalchain has partnered with London based Groves Medical Group to pilot a blockchain programme in its four medical centres. The technology is being used in the medical industry to help patients take full control of their healthcare records as well as provide access to flexible telemedicine services.
The pilot program will be commenced in July 2018. It will allow Medicalchain to gather review from doctors and patients, which they will use to refine the programme before its global launch.
The registered patients will be able to create a wallet to hold and manage access to their health records. The medical group supports 30,000 registered patients and 1,000 private patient families.
The platform will then give patients the option to pay for services using cryptocurrency, with users being incentivised to pay for telemedicine services with Medicalchain’s MedTokens.
Dr, Vince Grippaudo, the Senior Partner at The Groves thinks there is a unique opportunity to work with the leaders in blockchain for healthcare. The aim is to improve health services not only in the UK but across the world.
Details of the pilot project are currently being refined by both parties with further information due to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Medicalchain team appreciates the dedication of its community and the private role it has played in facilitating the project’s success to date. There will be more exciting updates to follow, and the team look forward to sharing more good news shortly.
