BITCOIN SUPPORT IS ADDED TO COINBASE WALLET

Cryptocurrency wallet “Coinbase Wallet” was launched about six months ago, but only now the US cryptocurrency exchange has decided to add support for bitcoin.

“Our goal is to create the world’s best cryptocurrency wallet for ordinary users. To date, Coinbase Wallet already supports Ethereum, Ethereum Classic and more than 100,000 tokens of the ERC-20 and ERC-721 standard on the basis of Ethereum. The addition of bitcoin is an important step in this direction,” the company said in a statement.

A new wallet update for iOS and Android systems, which will support bitcoin, will appear within the next week. Coinbase Wallet will support both SegWit addresses with lower transaction costs and old format addresses. In addition, users can switch to the bitcoin test network in the advanced settings.

Key protection will continue to be implemented using Secure Enclave technology, which is considered the most secure way to protect personal data on mobile devices. In addition, representatives of the exchange noted that work on the integration of Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, “and other popular cryptocurrencies” is in full swing.

Note that two weeks ago, the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase began supporting cross-border money transfers for institutional clients in Asia, the UK and Europe.
