ALMOST EVERY THIRD FREELANCER IS READY TO RECEIVE PAYMENT IN CRYPTOCURRENCIES

As reported in Humans.net research, almost every fifth freelancer would like to get paid in Bitcoin, and 11% would accept a partial payment, and 4% have already received earnings in that way.

According to the results of a survey conducted by the Humans Network, more than 29% of 1,100 freelancers registered on the platform, most of which are US citizens, ready to receive payment in cryptocurrencies. At the same time, 75% of respondents noted that they are already familiar with cryptocurrencies.

Among the main advantages of cryptocurrencies in comparison with traditional payment methods, freelancers noted the possibility of international payments (13%), the absence of intermediaries (12%), security (11%), low fees (8%) and transparency (9%).

Also according to the Humans.net report, growing awareness of cryptocurrencies leads to their wider application:

“Comparing with the data of a similar study conducted by Lendedu in September 2017, the number of cryptocurrency owners has tripled over the past year: from 14% to 38%”.

Partial payment of rewards in cryptocurrency is a common practice: for example, employees of such companies as Google, Facebook, Airbnb and Uber have long been paid in cryptocurrency. However, now the salary in cryptocurrencies is already acceptable in some countries, such as Costa Rica, where local regulation contributes to this.
